From Friday, 5 September to Sunday, 7 September 2025, the Sandton Convention Centre will transform into a meeting ground for the best of the continent’s art, artists, and galleries. Now in its 18th consecutive year, the fair continues to be more than an event it’s a celebration of African imagination, ambition, and connection.

FNB’s longstanding partnership with Art Joburg reflects our unwavering belief in the prowess of African talent and our commitment to supporting the growth of the continent’s creative economy… Through this partnership, we facilitate access to global markets, providing African artists with opportunities to showcase their work on the global stage,” says FNB’s Chief Marketing Officer, Faye Mfikwe.

What To Expect At The Joburg Art

This year’s edition promises a vibrant lineup. Alongside the main fair, Open City (28 August – 11 September) extends the experience across Johannesburg, inviting audiences to engage with the city’s cultural spaces. Expect curated sections like:

  • gallery HUB – presenting the best in contemporary African art from established spaces like BKhz, Goodman Gallery, Stevenson, and Afriart Gallery.
  • gallery LAB – an incubator for fresh ideas and experimental business models in the art world.
  • MAX – large-scale installations that push boundaries.
  • ETC – a treasure trove of books, prints, catalogues, and zines.
  • ORG – reimagining how the public engages with cultural institutions like Zeitz MOCAA and DIKAN Centre.
  • AUX – talks, screenings, and lectures from industry leaders.
  • GIF – spotlighting film and photography from across the continent.

Johannesburg is more than a city; it is the African continent’s cultural engine… We are proud to contribute to an economy where culture is not a byproduct, but a driver of growth, imagination and possibility,” says Mandla Sibeko, FNB Art Joburg’s Managing Director.

For collectors, creators, and the culturally curious, FNB Art Joburg is the perfect way to step into spring, immersed in colour, conversation, and the powerful stories African art continues to tell.
