From classic MINIs to the latest models, drivers came together on Heritage Day for a convoy celebrating 24 years of MINI in South Africa.
On Thursday, 24 September, more than 800 MINI drivers brought their cars, personalities and plenty of colour to the road for the One Big MINI Morning. From iconic classics to the newest members of the MINI family, the Heritage Day convoy marked 24 years since the brand’s bold rebirth on South African soil.
Setting off from The Acreage in Midrand, the convoy turned Johannesburg’s roads into a moving celebration of MINI heritage, bringing together the cars, people and personalities that have shaped the brand’s story in South Africa.

One big convoy
The morning marked the second consecutive year that MINI drivers have come together for a convoy, following the inaugural Big MINI Breakfast Run in 2025, which attracted more than 600 MINI vehicles. This year, the MINI community turned out in even greater numbers.
But the One Big MINI Morning was about more than how many MINIs could fit on the road. It was about the people behind the wheel.

Drivers arrived in MINIs spanning generations, colours and models, each as individual as its owner. From classic MINIs and much-loved older models to the latest MINI Cooper, MINI Aceman and MINI Countryman, the convoy reflected the evolution of MINI in South Africa, as well as the individuality and personality that have always been part of the brand.
“Being an Mzansi MINI driver is about energy, community and passion, but above all, it’s about being yourself,” says Carmen Myles, Head of MINI South Africa.

“MINI has always celebrated individuality, and that comes through in the way our drivers make their cars their own. Your MINI becomes an expression of your personality and who you are. Seeing more than 800 people bring that individuality together in one place was a very special way to celebrate 24 years of MINI in South Africa.” – Carmen Myles, Head of MINI South Africa.

The morning continued
After the drive, MINI drivers gathered at Casalinga in Muldersdrift for a morning of food, music and entertainment, with time to connect with fellow drivers and the wider MINI community.

For 24 years, MINI has carved out its own distinctive place in South African motoring culture. One Big MINI Morning showed that while the cars may have changed over the years, the sense of fun, individuality and community that comes with being a MINI driver is still going strong.
And if more than 800 MINIs taking to the road together is anything to go by, there is still plenty more Mzansi MINI-ness to come.
