Takealot is extending Black Friday deals across November. Explore South African shopping trends and what to expect from Black November 2026.
Black Friday is getting a longer run this year. From 26 October, Takealot is bringing Black Friday-priced deals to South Africans throughout November, with new offers dropping every week. That means more time to shop, more deals to explore and more opportunities to find what you’re looking for.
Having introduced Black Friday to South Africa in 2012, Takealot has spent the past 15 years helping shape the country’s online shopping experience. Last year’s Black Friday sales broke records, and this year the platform is extending the shopping event beyond a single day to give customers more time and flexibility throughout the month.
With more than 5 million shoppers, over 1 billion product searches annually and a delivery network supported by more than 15,000 drivers, Takealot has a unique view of how South Africans shop. Its platform data offers an interesting snapshot of the products people are looking for, the categories they’re spending on and even the hours they prefer to shop.
The scale of its operation is reflected in the numbers. Since January 2026, Takealot’s delivery network has covered 43 million kilometres, the equivalent of 8,844 laps around South Africa’s border. More than 98% of deliveries arrive on time, while the quickest TakealotNOW delivery clocked in at just 35 minutes. Shoppers have also collected 2.2 million orders from the platform’s top five Pickup Points, with 89 million wishlists created and counting.
According to Karla Levick, Chief Marketing Officer at Takealot, these figures represent more than shopping statistics. They reflect millions of individual decisions that offer insight into the needs, wants and aspirations of South African consumers.

WHAT SOUTH AFRICANS ARE SHOPPING FOR
Takealot’s search data shows sustained interest across technology, homeware, beauty and everyday essentials. Washing machines, televisions, air fryers, furniture, skincare, toys and household products all feature among the platform’s most searched and purchased categories.
The data also reveals that South Africans shop around the clock. Gauteng leads in midnight shopping, followed by the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. Digital products such as airtime and vouchers are particularly popular between 2am and 4am.
It’s an indication of how online shopping fits around everyday routines. Whether browsing during a lunch break, adding something to a wishlist late at night or looking for an essential at short notice, shoppers can choose from delivery options that suit their schedules.
Last year’s Black Friday trends offer another glimpse into what South Africans are buying. Samsung televisions, PlayStation 5 consoles, Apple iPads and Huawei tablets featured among the top products by value in 2025. By volume, air fryers, Apple AirPods, walking pads and even Baby Soft toilet paper made the list. Skincare, personal health, sports equipment, makeup, small appliances and home and kitchen products were also among the leading categories.
