Dear Ribane x G-Star RAW: A Meditative Terrain of Fashion, Form and Future

In a private exhibition launch that felt more like a portal than a gallery showing, Dear Ribane unveiled their latest collaboration with G-Star RAW South Africa, hosted within the striking walls of Usurpa Gallery. This wasn’t just a fashion event, it was an immersive exploration of identity, architecture, and material culture.

At its heart, the installation proposed garments as temporal artefacts, sculptural, abstract, and undeniably alive. Figures both photographed and present occupied a meditative terrain where identity was not fixed but fluid, continually assembled in the folds of fabric and the flicker of immersive digital visuals.

DEAR RIBANE REFERENCED ARCHITECTURE

Every draped form and folded plane referenced architecture, not as concrete, but as memory, as inheritance, as a language both passed down and radically reimagined. The exhibition, curated by Dear Ribane Lab, Manthe, Tebogo, and Kaykay Ribane, functioned as both a visual thesis and a spiritual journey through material expression.

Elevating the multisensory experience was Chef Pali Pali, whose culinary artistry mirrored the exhibition’s themes of layered identity and refined abstraction. Soundscapes by Pantheone Audio further grounded the atmosphere, vibrating gently through the clean geometry of Usurpa Gallery, while Samsung’s The Frame TVs became portals into Dear Ribane’s visual universe.

CO ART X G-STAR

Captured masterfully by Co Art Studios, the event was not only visually arresting but emotionally resonant, with special guest TRESOR adding an extra layer of creative kinship and star power to the already inspired occasion.

Ultimately, this collaboration stood as a testament to what happens when fashion, technology, sound, taste, and spirit come together under a shared creative vision. It was not just a show, it was a conversation with time.
