Comic Con Cape Town returns from 30 April to 3 May at CTICC 2. Here’s which actors are attending, including Evanna Lynch and the One Piece cast, and how to see them.
Comic Con Cape Town returns from 30 April to 3 May at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC 2).
If you’ve been before, you’ll know the scale. If you haven’t, it’s one of the few events locally where film, gaming, comics, anime and fashion all sit in the same space. But for many people, the main draw is still the guest line-up.
This year’s programme leans heavily into film and series talent, with a mix of international names and South African actors working on global productions.

The headline names
Evanna Lynch is one of the biggest names on the line-up. She’s best known for playing Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter film series, a character that became a fan favourite for how different she felt from the rest of the cast.
* Lynch will be at the event from 30 April to 2 May, appearing in panel discussions as well as scheduled autograph and photo sessions.

On the anime side, voice actors Christopher Sabat and Jason Liebrecht are part of the line-up. Between them, their work spans major titles like Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, My Hero Academia and Attack on Titan. For many local fans, these are the voices that shaped early exposure to anime.
The One Piece connection
There’s also a strong link to One Piece, which is currently filmed in Cape Town.
Several cast members from the live-action adaptation will be attending, including Steven John Ward, Jazzara Jaslyn, Callum Kerr, Martial T Batchamen and Tyrone Keogh.

For a production of that scale to be shot locally, and for its cast to appear at a Cape Town event, points to how connected the city has become to international film and TV.
Local and global, in the same room
The mix of guests is part of what makes Comic Con work. You’ll find international actors sharing a programme with South African performers, alongside illustrators, comic artists and designers showing work in Artist Alley.
That overlap matters. It creates a space where local creatives aren’t separate from global culture, but part of the same conversation.

What to expect
Across the four days, guests will appear in Q&As, panel talks and meet-and-greets. Autograph sessions and photo opportunities are ticketed separately and can be booked through Howler, but you’ll need a Comic Con ticket first.
Beyond the guest line-up, the event includes gaming zones, cosplay, exhibitions and retail, but the core draw remains access. It’s one of the few times fans can hear directly from the people behind the characters they follow.

Why it’s worth paying attention
Comic Con Cape Town is no longer a niche event. It’s grown into a fixture on the city’s cultural calendar, with tens of thousands of attendees expected this year.
More importantly, it reflects something broader. The gap between local and global production is getting smaller. Events like this make that visible.
