Deephouse duo LiquidDeep are officially making their return to the stage.
The LiquidDeep duo, consisting of Thabo “Ryzor” Shokgolo (DJ/producer) and Jonathan “Ziyon” Hamilton (artist/producer/vocalist), will perform at the inaugural Mayonie Open Air on 30 November 2025 at Constitution Hill in Johannesburg.
The announcement comes more than a decade after the group released the songs that defined an era in South African house music. Tracks like ‘Fairytale’, ‘Alone’, ‘BBM’, ‘Rise Again’ and ‘Settle for Less’ became instant anthems, shaping Afro House and soul on dance floors and airwaves alike.
Mayonie Open Air, founded by Zakes Bantwini, is billed as a new space to celebrate the evolution of Afro House. For Bantwini, LiquidDeep’s return isn’t just about looking back with nostalgia. It’s a chance to honour their legacy while bringing back a sound that influenced a generation of artists.
“It’s a full-circle moment,” says Bantwini, reflecting on his shared history with the duo, including their Channel O Music Awards performance in 2012.
After an 11-year break, LiquidDeep will join a line-up of artists who continue to push Afro House forward, marking their return on one of South Africa’s most symbolic stages.
Mayonie Open Air wants to connect past, present and future in a one-night showcase of South African music’s global reach.
